Tripura CM opens 1st paddy procurement of FCI in Tripura

Agartala, Dec 15 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today launched the formal procurement drive of paddy by Food Corporation of India (FCI) for the first time in the state in Dhalai district.

As per the decision, FCI will buy at least 10,000 MT paddy having the standard properties specified under FCI procurement rule from Tripura in next one month. In the first phase, paddy will be procured from 10 locations under eight high paddy yielding revenue blocks of the state at the rate of Rs 17.50 per kilogram.

“To ensure the procurement of paddy from the genuine farmers and actual cultivators, state agriculture department engaged its extension workers in the selected villages to go for field verification of the intending paddy vendors who applied for selling paddy to FCI. Besides, agriculture officials, the supply note of the farmers have been authenticated by the local panchayats,” said agriculture minister Pranajit Singharoy.
