Shell Select beefs up inventory, improves safety measures amid COVID-19 crisis
MANILA — Shell Philippines said Wednesday its convenience store unit has taken steps to provide customers with safer shopping options as it prepares for the “new normal” shaped by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Located in Shell fuel stations, Shell Select has beefed up its inventory to provide more groceries, fresh and frozen food, and household essentials.
This, Shell said in a statement, will allow customers to fulfill their shopping runs for a fraction of the time it takes to line up at congested supermarkets, lowering the risk of infection.
It added that the free parking and locations of Shell Select branches make them a convenient alternative for motorists and commuters.
“As the Philippines begins adjusting to this new COVID-19 reality, business will have to find new ways to serve customers in ensuring that they have access to their needs with the least exposure to the virus,” Shell said.
“Shell continues to be steadfast in monitoring the situation so that it is ready to respond to the changing needs of customers, its staff, and the community,” it added.
Other safety measures implemented at Shell Select include adding plastic shields at the counter, hourly self-sanitation of staff, and the addition of reminders to practice good personal hygiene and physical distancing.
